Scotland
Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland. It is city full of attractive squares. The Royal Mile is the famous street from the castle to Holy rood House. The Scottish national costume consists of kilt, cap (hat), sporran (kožená kapsa) and maybe umbrella and pipes. You need 8 metres of tartan cloth for one kilt. The national Scottish instrument is bagpipe. You can visit Edinburgh Castle when the Royal family is not there.
The Highland of Scotland (Scottish Olympics) takes place from May to September. There are disciplines: tossing the caber, tossing the hammer, tug of war. The competitors have to wear kilt, they dance and listen to Scottish music. The royal family spend their free time in Balmoral castle in Scotland. Oban is the fishing port – the fish is Scottish salmon. The local whiskey is made of water and barley (ječmen).
Hadrian’s Wall is situated in the place where Scotland meets England, from west to the east coast. It was 4,5 m tall in Roman period and it was built 2000 years ago. The cathedral in Durham is popular because it should have protected the people against the king. There is a famous knocker. The poor people came to the gate, knocked it, was let in (vpušteni) and so they saved the life.
